Latte Art

First time I saw this was when I watched Girls Generation MV Into The New World. I saw Yuri made this. So I decided to search for this and voila! I found it.

Latte art is a method of preparing coffee created by pouring steamed milk into a shot of espresso and resulting in a pattern or design on the surface of the resulting latte. It is both a gustatory delight and a fleeting artistic vision of foamy futility.

And here's the steps:
  1. Pour enough cold milk (34 ºF or 1 ºC)for one cup into the steam pitcher
  2.  Put the steam wand at the bottom of the pitcher
  3. Allow the milk to reach 80 ºF (27 ºC)
  4. Shut the steam and remove the steam wand and thermometer from the milk
  5. Let the milk settle for a few seconds
  6. Swirl the milk vigorously
  7. Start pouring the milk into the espresso
  8. Continue until the foam reaches the top of the cup
  9. Embellish the design using stencils, powder, and milk foam

Here's the ingredients and tools
Whole milk
Espresso
Straight walled steam pitcher with a sharp spout
Espresso machine with a powerful steam wand
14 ounce (400 ml) latte cup
Thermometer
Steam Machine

Latte art is currently booming right now. If you go to a coffee shop you can ask the barista to make you a latte art using those designs above or using your ideas or even make your own signature latte art like these

And eventhough the name is latte art, doesn't mean it can't be used into other drinks since now you can make it on a cup of green tea like these

And don't worry, if you can't make it but you want to study I suggest you buy this book

Or join the workshop in your town or learn using tutorial videos here

So someday if you want to you can join the world latte art competition which is, for me, superbly cool
Here's the world competition link http://www.worldlatteart.org/

The pic above is the winner of free pouring championship creating his own signature latte art. Cool isn't it..??

Well I guess that's enough for this post. If you want to see more pics of these just click
