Hagoita Ichi, also known as New Year Festival or Battledore Fair in Japan. It always held between 17th Dec-19th Dec. At there, many open-air stalls sell hagoita, shuttle cocks, kites, and many other New Year decorations, also numerous people gather there from all over the country. Yet the history is far back from Edo era. And if one hagoita is sold, it is common for the sellers and the buyers to clap their hands rhythmically in harmony with one another. So if you come there around the date, don't be embarrassed to join the clapping! :D
