Serigala Terakhir

This film is about friendship and love. This film, titled Serigala Terakhir, consists of a small gangster group which has 5 members, Ale (Fathir Muchtar), Jarot (Vino G. Bastian), Lukman (Dion Wiyoko), Sadat (Ali Syakieb), dan Jago (Dallas Pratama). They were very close to each other, just like a family. But everything changed when Jarot kills the man who is trying to kill Ale. For that, Jarot goes to jail. His life in jail is full of violence. As a new person, he needs to endure the beating from the leader there. He keeps enduring it until he becomes the leader and makes the former leader pays back what he has done to him. And when he's in there, none of his friends shows any kind of respect to him, none of them visit him. No one cares about him. 

After he gets out from the jail, Fathir, a dumb man who once wanted to enter the gangster and helped by Jarot once, picks him up and bring him to Naga Hitam, the enemy of his former gangster. His old friends are very disappointed because of that, and they become enemy since then. But not only that, Jarot also communicate again with his long lost love, Aisyah (Fanny Fabriana), Ale's younger sister. Since Jarot entered Naga Hitam, many things happened to his former friends, such as the death of one of the small gangster member's brother. He meets Jarot to take revenge of his brother, but Jarot knows nothing, and in the end, Fathir shots him and makes him died. 

But the film hasn't end yet, there's still so many cool scenes waiting in that film. As for the ending, I kinda surprised for the ending, But I'm not going to tell you, you need to watch it yourself. :D

Aeon Flux

It is a story about a skilled woman named Aeon Flux (Charlize Theron) who gets a duty to infiltrate to a kill the leader of Bregna Republic, Trevor Goodchild (Marton Csokas). Aeon is told by The Handler to kill Trevor. But later on Aeon knows that Trevor is her husband in the past, and he's a good man, while his brother, Oren Goodchild (Jonny Lee Miller) is a bad one. Oren is the one who controls The Handler and killed Una, Aeon's friend who has been successfully pregnant after 400 years to maintain the Goodchild era. And not only that, Oren also killed other women who has successfully pregnant and forgot his real duty to cure the infertility of the human after their experiment which has one side effect, the infertility of the women all over the world. Since that time, Trevor and Oren had cloned themselves to find the cure and undo the infertility, but Oren changed and insisted that no woman can be pregnant naturally. Because of that, Sithandra (Sophie Okonedo), Aeon's friend, killed him.

After all, the fighting scenes and the storyline quite good. I love the graphics, especially when the fighting scenes start. It's very cool!

Kungfu Panda

The film is about Po, a fat lazy panda, who has been chosen as the dragon warrior by the highest level of master, Master Oogway. Shifu (the teacher) and the Furious Five Warriors, Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey, don't understand why the turtle master chose Po, because Po has no martial arts ability. 

Things changed when Shifu's old student, and his favorite ones, Tai Lung, comes back from the prison and become stronger. Things getting heavier for Master Shifu because Master Oogway leaves him with the task to teach Po. But before he leaves, he says "You just need to believe." Then the next day, Master Shifu sees Po splits perfectly when he eats Monkey's food. Then he realizes he can use that as a way to train Po. And he succeeded.

Finally Po become the real Dragon Warrior and defeat Tai Lung. Then the Furious Five congratulate him.

Well we can learn 3 things in this film

• Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover,
• Each Person Is Different, So We Need To Find Different Methods To Teach Them,
• Never Give Up No Matter How Hard The Situation Is.

The Innkeepers

Back in classic time, The Innkeepers is about 2 workers, Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy) in an almost-closed-down-hotel who dig about the history of the hotel so they can put it on their 'ghost' website. That time there's only 3 guests, a woman with her child who quarrels with her husband, Alison Bartlett and Jake Ryan, an old actress who changed her occupation into a ghost communicator, Leanne Rease-Jones (Kelly McGillis), and an old business man.

The beginning of this movie is kinda boring for me. But the ending is cool. Finally Madeline (the bride ghost) shows up with the old business man. I don't know, but I summarized from this movie that Madeline perhaps has a connection with the man since the man looks odd when he insisted to get the 305 room eventhough Claire already told him there's no furniture there anymore and then Claire found him committed suicide in the bathtub.
 

As for the ending, Claire died in the basement when Madeline and the business man's spirits come towards her. And the police brought Claire's corpse. What I do not understand is Luke says to Leanne: "You already know this didn't you?" It makes me puzzled til now because I haven't discovered the connection among Leanne, Madeline, Luke, and the man.

The Woman In Black

Setting in Victorian era, this film titled Woman In Black is kinda scary for me. Yet the scenery has stunned me a lot. Besides, the victorian atmosphere in this film captivated my heart since the beginning when the 3 little girls jumped from the attic.

This film is about a man named Arthur Kippe (Daniel Radcliffe), who has one child boy. He works as a lawyer. And one day, he wants to move to a remote village with his family. He chose one house, which has a vengeful spirit of a woman there. That woman, called Woman In Black, is a woman whose child has been left to death by the adopted mother. Since that time, she became crazy and killed herself. But eventhough she's dead, she still can't let go of her child. So she cursed everyone in that village. Since that time, every child who lives in that house will die and no one ever dare to live in that house again.

But Arthur doesn't care. In fact, he chose to dig the truth about the woman eventhough the villagers warned him and forced him to leave the village because they don't want anything happens again. And finally he discovered the child's body and make him meet the woman. 

Curious about the ending..?? Well the ending is sad because the woman still cannot forgive no matter how hard he tries, just like what she wrote in her letters "Never Forgive!". So in the end Arthur dies with his child when he wants to save his child.

The Hunger Games

Ok, I know it's a bit late to write a review about hunger games since it has released for a while..

Hunger Games is a film based on a novel with the same title "The Hunger Games". It is about an annual game called The Hunger Games in which the 2 participants, one man and one woman, will be selected from each District, District 1 until District 12 and will be gathered to compete for their lives. This year, District 12 got 1 volunteered tribute, Katniss Everdeen, and Peeta Mellark, to compete there.

So far this film is kinda boring, but I do love the scenery, kinda reminded me of Twilight's scenery. My favorite scene is when Katniss and Peeta holding hands when they're using the fire clothes. They look so cool there <3

And when Katniss wears a gown that can create fire. When she shows the fire to the audience, that's when I love the scene.

For the fighting scenes, they're good, really. Katniss climbs the tree and stays there until the tributes from District 1 & 2 leave. When Katniss shoots the District 1 & 2's food supplies, and many more. I love it. And the conflicts too. Overall, this film get 7,5 out of 10 for me.

The Covenant

The Covenant story is about 4 guys in Spenser Academy, who own supernatural powers which has been in their family for so long. They're Caleb Danvers (Steven Strait), Pogue Parry (Taylor Kitsch), Reid Garwin (Toby Hemingway), and Tyler Simms (Chace Crawford).

The story starts when they want to attend a party, perhaps Summer Party, by jumping off a cliff. The idea was from Reid, the youngest guy. Then at the party, they meet Sarah, a new girl. Both Caleb and Reid check Sarah, but Caleb is the one who get Sarah's attention. 

The conflicts starts when Sarah feels she's being haunted by someone. She doesn't know who is it, but she's scared. Then her roommate got sick and coma. When Caleb found out that Sarah, her roommate, and his friend are in danger because him, he chooses to fight the enemy and rescue Sarah.

What A Girl Wants

OK, I know this film is old enough since this movie was released in 2003, but I still love this film anyway. <3

This film is about a girl, American girl for exact, who has a British father, who works as a politician, whom she hasn't met even for once because her mother left her father when she hasn't born, and never tell her about her father. Daphne Reynolds, portrayed by Amanda Bynes, is a pretty little unique girl who has her own style, full of confidence, fashionable, tough, and strong, yet she's lonely. Her dream to meet her father made her decided to go to England, all by herself, to meet her father.

She decided to leave her house and her mother Libby, portrayed by Kelly Preston, to go to England. When she finally arrived at England, people staring at her like she's a bad girl just because her fashion taste. Then she finally came to her father's house. When she's arrived, people think she's a beggar, but when she says about her mother to her father Lord Henry Dashwood, portrayed by Colin Firth, and shows him her photo album, she suddenly become one of the family member.

It's not easy for her to change her fashion taste and style from a carefree and liberal American girl into a sweet, polite, and feminine British girl. She made riots twice. But eventhough she did those, she made a fussy lady love her. And her grandma love her too. Her grandma love her more than her step sister, who is very ambitious, and her step mother, who's willingly to do anything just to get high social status.

Meanwhile, her father, Henry, doesn't have any idea about her existence. And when she suddenly came there, Henry is so happy. But then he get pressured by the media and Alistair (Jonathan Pryce), Glynnis's father (Henry's fiancee and Daphne's almost become step mother), to change Daphne's attitude. Daphne tried to obey her father, changes her natural self into her fake self, but then when the father-and-daughter dancing starts, Daphne can't dance with her father because Glynnis and Clarissa (Daphne's almost become step sister) lock her in a room, and when she finally found her way out and ran to her father, she saw her father dance with Clarissa. She cries and chooses to come back to America with her mother and her boyfriend Ian, and starts her normal life again.

But, eventhough she comes back from England, she just can't let go of her memories with her father.

At the same time, in England, when her father works alone at night, her grandmother enters his room and says "For decades, our family has sacrifice everything for this country. Everything. Do you know what will you sacrifice now Henry? Your heart." Then she hugs him. And the next day, when Henry wants to give a speech in front of his supporters, he says "I quit." Alistair becomes so angry so he reveals his biggest secret that he's the one who ruined Henry and Libby's relationship. He knew Libby was pregnant so he asked Libby to leave him. After Henry knows about that, he punches Alistair right to his face, then he leaves Glynnis and Clarissa to get his own life.

When Daphne sees her father comes to America, to pick her and her mother, she's very happy. Especially when she sees her father and mother romantic scene. Then, at the end of the movie, Daphne failed the university's enrollment test, but she passed Harvard's test, which has a higher test level.

This film shows me that Money Isn't Too Important, There's Something More Important Than Money, Something Which Money and High Social Status Can't Buy.

Death Bell

It's a thriller film. In a private high class school ,which often give tests to the students to compete in order to become the number one. The film starts when I-na, the female lead, get a nightmare about Ji-Won, her bestfriend who died one year ago. Then she and her friend, Myong Hyo, goes to school. And the frightening events start. On a usual morning, suddenly one of the PA student, the smartest student in the school, Hye Young, disappeared, and not long after that, all of the students hear a creepy sound, then the television suddenly turned on, and the students, along with their fellow teachers, see Hye Young there, trapped in an aquarium.

Then they hear a man's voice, says they need to answer the question correctly before the time runs out, or Hye Young will die. One of the teacher doesn't believe it and try to contact the outside world using his cellphone, but every cellphone there gets no signal.Then he chooses to go out from school eventhough the voice says not to, and 5 minutes later, he comes back in all bloody suit and dies in front of the students and the teachers. Well, the game isn't over yet, since the murderers keep kidnapping and killing the students one by one based on their school rank. As time passes, the main female character Kang I-na (portrayed by Nam Gyu-ri) figured out about the murderers motive and the teacher's secrets.

Well, I think you need to see it by yourself. Put your earphone and watch it alone will be great. :D And if you're Kim Bum fan, you should see this movie. Kim Bum plays as Kang Hyeon, the main male character whose heart belongs to I-na, the chubby short haired girl, eventhough Myong Hyo love him. And he dies when he tries to protect I-na from Cho Beom, a fellow student who is also the key to Ji Won's death. Well there's one lesson we can get from this film, that's Stay Honest And Use Honest Ways To Get Your Purposes.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark

 
Written by Matthew Robbins and Guillermo del Toro and starring by Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes, and Bailee Madison. This movie was kind a hit last 2011 because of the frightening situation and plots. The movie starts when a little girl named Sally Hurst (Bailee Madison) moves to a mansion in Rhode Island with her dad, Alex (Guy Pearce), and her almost-become-stepmother, Kim (Katie Holmes), after her parents divorced. Long time ago, that mansion was Emerson Blackwood's. But since he suddenly disappeared the mansion became empty ever since. The family doesn't know there's a dark secret on the mansion. The creepy events start since they broke the woods that sealed the basement. And Sally opened the sealed ash pit without even realize that she is going to release monsters.

Actually I feel sad for Sally, her parent has just divorced, and after that she consumed several medicines from the therapist, but her dad doesn't believe her when she tries to explain about the monsters, thinks she's hallucinating, and calls the therapist to help her. And her mom doesn't care about her. While Kim, the one who doesn't related by blood with her, believes her, entertains her, shows her her favorite place in the mansion, and protects her, she even sacrifices herself for Sally until she dies. Unlike Alex, Kim is sincere to Sally and choose to believe Sally when no one does eventhough Sally hates her and misunderstood her in the beginning.

What I love most from this movie is the scenery and the situation, not to mention that Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce, and Bailee play their roles very well. I do really love the pond's scene, when Kim shows Sally her favorite place in the mansion. The scenery there is stunning for me. A big mansion, a neat garden, a beautiful fish pond, everything. The sound also perfect for the creepy scenes. Well, eventhough this film is not as frightening and surprising like Insidious, I still love this film more. Sally is so cute. And this movie has several heart-rendering scenes that attract me more. Well in my opinion, this film isn't just a usual horror film. It also teaches us that Related By Blood Doesn't Make Us Become A Family, Choose Your Family Over Your Career, and Believe In Your Family.
